Next Step Volunteers

Next Step Against Domestic Abuse

VOLUNTEERING

Next Step is committed to working with volunteers.

We would be unable to provide our range of services if we did not have dedicated caring people who are willing to train and give up some of their free time to support a very worthwhile cause.

If you have any spare time that you are willing to use by helping us and the people who call for our help and support, then please give us a call.

All of our current volunteers feel very strongly about the help they give, and they find it is also very rewarding, helping people out of the situations they are in.

Here is a quick overview from one of our current volunteers.

My name is Jackie and I have been volunteering at Next Step since July 2006. I've always found it very relaxed coming into Next Step.

The staff and other volunteers are all friendly and help you feel at ease. I'm doing my first year on a counselling course, as in the future I do want to work in this line of work.

By volunteering, I feel that I am gaining experience in helping people suffering from Domestic Abuse.

There is a help line for people to ring where you can get some advice or just a friendly ear to listen to you. You don't have to give any details if you don't want to.

Next Step also offers befriending where you can come in and talk to someone. You can get everything off your chest or just have a chat. Everything is confidential, so nothing will be repeated.

In an ideal world we wouldn't have any abuse of any sort, sadly though it is not an ideal world and that is why we have the likes of Next Step to help you. Who knows you may even get to meet me - if so I look forward to it!
